Author Eddie Huang’s new movie “Boogie” will be dropping later this year but to see if you want to see it, check out the trailer first.
“From acclaimed writer, producer and restaurateur Eddie Huang comes his directorial debut BOOGIE, the coming-of-age story of Alfred “Boogie” Chin, a basketball phenom living in Queens, New York, who dreams of one day playing in the NBA. While his parents pressure him to focus on earning a scholarship to an elite college, Boogie must find a way to navigate a new girlfriend, high school, on-court rivals and the burden of expectation. Written and directed by Eddie Huang. Starring Taylor Takahashi, Taylour Paige, Pamelyn Chee, Mike Moh, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Alexa Mareka, Perry Yung, and Pop Smoke,” according to Focus Features, the studio that financed the movie.
Honestly, looks kind of corny with the exception of the whole Chinese kid playing basketball angle. Just chock-full of cliches. “I got to represent,” Boogie says. “I got 5000 years of Chinese history. That’s a lot of pressure.” But hopefully, it’s just the trailer and not the whole movie.
Check it out in March.
