A 46-year-old Swedish Asian actor was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in federal prison for sexually abusing a 15-year-old teen girl in Florida. According to Click Orlando, Joaquin Nabi Olsson traveled all the way from Sweden to Brevard County, Florida after conversing with her over social media. He met the teen in mid-2018 when she was 14 or 15 years old and called her his “wife.”
In March 2019, he flew from Sweden to Florida for two weeks to meet the teen. During his two-week stay, the two engaged in sex, according to the US Department of Justice. In May of 2019, he returned to Florida, and the two engaged in sexual activities.
Olsson was arrested after a person at a Comfort Suites notified police that Olsson looked romantically involved with an underage person. Palm Bay police arrested Olsson in July 2019 at a hotel in Brevard County where the two were staying. He admitted to having sex with the teenage girl. He then pleaded guilty in 2020 to using the internet to allure a minor into having sex with him.
“This child predator thought he could use international borders to abuse children and avoid law enforcement detection,” Homeland Security Investigations said. “Thanks to HSI special agents and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, he will now understand how seriously we take this crime in the United States.”
Besides prison time, Joaquin Nabi Olsson will also have to register as a sex offender and have to serve a five-year term of supervised release.
