On Saturday, police arrested 23-year-old Andrew Beavers for allegedly murdering his 58-year-old mother Juanita Koilpillai, reports CBS Baltimore News. He was taken in custody in Leesburg, Virginia, and charged with first and second-degree murder, reports the Baltimore Sun.
On July 25th, police received a missing person report from Koilpillai’s boyfriend. Police arrived at Koilpillai’s home on the 6300 block of Genoa Road in Anne Arundel County, Maryland around 3:30 pm. The boyfriend told police his girlfriend was missing and that there was blood inside their home.
Police searched the area and found Koilpillai’s body outside where she was pronounced dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide by multiple injuries by a sharp object.
Authorities also found that her vehicle was missing from her residence. They tracked the car down in Leesburg, Virginia where they located Beavers.
Beavers lived with his mom in her Maryland home but his father lived in Leesburg. When authorities interviewed Beavers, they noticed a fresh cut on his right hand that he could not explain, according to police.
Authorities also said they have the suspected murder weapon, a knife, with both Beavers and Koilpillai’s DNA on it.
Andrew Beavers was arrested and is awaiting extradition back to Anne Arundel County.
