A security video captured a man viciously beating two Korean women with a cement block in Baltimore, Maryland. The incident occurred on May 2nd just before midnight at Wonderland Liquor store on Pennsylvania Ave, reports CBS Baltimore news. The police arrested 50-year-old Daryl Doyles and charged him with two counts of aggravated assault.
The video shows the two women fighting off the suspect after he began his assault.
“I’m feeling raged, of course watching a video of your mom and your aunt beat is crazy,” John Yun, the son of one of the women said. “It doesn’t make sense why they would come here to make a living and get treated like this in a community that should embrace (them) because we’ve been here for over 20 something years, we are a part of this community,”
Yun said his mom and aunt own the liquor store in West Baltimore. He said they were closing up when the suspect attacked them. The victim who was hit first was his aunt while his mother got hit after she intervened. He said his mom and aunt don’t know the man nor had any interactions with him prior.
“I’m so proud of the, like the courage to actually stick up like that, it’s insane,” Yun said.
The two women were taken to the hospital but have been released and are recovering at home. Yun said his aunt got the worst of it and needed 25 stitches to her head. A Gofundme has been set up to help the family get through this difficult time.
“They both tried to fight him off, but were unfortunately overpowered. My aunt got the worse of the attack with over 25 stitches on her head and black eyes. But we are relieved that both of their CT scans came back good and were discharged hours later,” the Gofundme said. “I admire the bravery and courage of these two women and am incredibly proud of them. Their physical wounds will heal eventually, but the trauma from this attack will require more time. I am trying to raise some funds so they can relax and heal and without worrying about the burden of bills that will arise from this attack.”
