NYPD officer accused of shooting girlfriend and killing ex’s new girlfriend

The NYPD arrested one of their own after she allegedly shot her ex-girlfriend and shot and killed her ex’s new girlfriend, reports NBC New York News. The officer has been identified as 31-year-old Yvonne Wu of Brooklyn’s 72nd Precinct. Her 23-year-old ex-girlfriend has not been named but the murder victim has been identified as 24-year-old Jamie Liang. The relationship between Wu and her ex ended a month ago but they kept in touch.

On Wednesday around 5 pm, police received multiple 911 calls of shots fired around 19th Avenue and 79th Street in Bensonhurst. According to CBS New York News sources, the shooting took place at the ex-girlfriend’s home. Wu allegedly was waiting inside the home when her ex returned with another woman.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Wu outside the home. According to officials, she told responding officers that she shot someone. When officers entered the home they found two women on the ground shot.

The ex-girlfriend was shot in the torso but is expected to survive. Liang, on the other hand, was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Yvonne Wu has worked for over 5 years in Brooklyn South. She worked the night before the shooting and was scheduled to work on Wednesday evening.

Update – According to the New York Post, the ex-girlfriend has been identified as Jenny Li.
