A 21-year-old Uber driver in New York has died after he was struck by a stray bullet in Harlem on September 4th. According to the New York Daily News, Kuldip Singh passed away on Tuesday, three days after he was struck in the head with a bullet. Doctors were not able to remove the bullet and his brain function deteriorated before he died.
According to ABC 7 New York News, Singh was shot during an attempted robbery attempt near West 131st and Eighth avenue. Surveillance video of the incident shows a person trying to enter the car through the rear door, which had a passenger at the time, before two muzzle flashes go off. According to the New York Post, police believe a 15-year-old boy was trying to enter the car and got into a dispute with the passenger. Police believe the teen accidentally shot Singh in the head after he was shot by the passenger.
The teen was hit in the abdomen and thigh during the gunfire and police say he’s in critical condition.
Kuldip Singh immigrated to the United States with his parents in 2018 and started working for Uber two months ago.
