A New York City Paramedic worker is calling out the New York Post for revealing her identity in an article about OnlyFans. On December 12th, the New York Post posted an article called “NYC medic helped ‘make ends meet’ with racy OnlyFans side gig.” In the article, they interviewed 23-year-old Lauren Caitlyn Kwei who works for SeniorCare EMS and supplements her income with racy photos on her OnlyFans account. However, she said that when she was being interviewed she thought she would stay anonymous. Now that the article is out with her name in it she’s in danger of losing her job.
“Over the past 3 days, my life and the intimate details of it have been made public for millions of strangers to read and judge. There are many people telling me what they think I should do and giving me advice I did not ask for. Let me be very clear: I did not want the NY Post to run this article, much less use my name,” she said in a Gofundme set up for her. “When Dean Balsamini first “interviewed” me, he did not tell me what this was about until after I disclosed most of my background. He did not include in his article that I started crying on the phone when he finally did tell me what he was inquiring about.”
Lauren Caitlyn Kwei is a 23-year-old living in Bronx, New York originally from West Virginia. Her mother is from northern Virginia while her father’s parents are from China. After she graduated high school she moved to New York in 2015 to pursue acting on Broadway. In 2017, she graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and started auditioning for roles but realized it wasn’t for her.
So she enrolled in paramedic school and graduated in 2020. She makes $25 an hour working for SeniorCare EMS which is privately owned which is less than what FDNY’s Emergency Medical Service. With bills to pay and her family to support, she started an OnlyFans account and also got another job as a hostess at a restaurant.
But after the New York Post article was published, she deleted her OnlyFans account in the hopes that she wouldn’t lose her job.
“I am a damn good paramedic. I LOVE my job and I love taking care of people,” Kwei wrote on the Gofundme that was set up for her. “I don’t want to quit my day job and get my bag on OnlyFans — I want to serve the city of New York. That’s all I have ever wanted to do.”
People were upset with the article on three fronts. First, the New York Post revealed her name. Second, because she could lose her job just because she does sex work on the side. And finally because she had to work three jobs to make ends meet. Even AOC chimed in on the situation.
Lauren is currently in West Virginia taking care of her ill father. She said the company she works for wants to speak to her in person. So we’ll soon see if she still has a job as a paramedic. Best of luck to her.
