A married couple living in Milpitas in the Bay Area was arrested for allegedly running several brothels. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 57-year-old David Davies and his wife 38-year-old Larong Hu was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for felony conspiracy charges and pimping and pandering.
Investigators said their investigation took two years. They identified their first brothel in 2019 in Milpitas and found several more in San Jose and Palo Alto. Authorities said they seized $2 million and rescued six women.
According to prosecutors, the two allegedly trafficked women from overseas. Once the women arrived, the two allegedly took their passports from them.
“They were also told they would not get paid if they leave early,” Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Patrick Vanier said reports NBC Bay Area News. “These women are forced to have sex with between 10 and 15 men a day. They come in, in half hour intervals.”
The brothels were located in residential buildings and advertised on Backpage and the couple’s own website, according to prosecutors.
“We believe this has been happening to dozens and dozens of women over the last few years,” Sharan Dhanoa of the South Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking said.
The married couple, David Davies and Larong Hu, is being held on $350,000 bail.
