Man who allegedly punched Asian 7-Eleven worker in Manhattan, New York arrested

Police arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly punched an Asian 7-Eleven worker in Manhattan, New York. According to ABC 7 News, Gregory Jacques was arrested on Wednesday and charged with assault, attempted assault, and reckless endangerment.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 3rd around 5:45 am at the 7-Eleven on 589 8th avenue. The 27-year-old employee tried to stop the suspect from allegedly shoplifting before he was assaulted. The suspect allegedly yelled “You Chinese motherf***er” before punching the employee and fleeing.

Meanwhile, in Chinatown, New York on April 7th, a surveillance camera caught a woman slapping an Asian woman. According to AMNY, the incident occurred around 7:35 pm outside a cafe at 279 Grand St. The suspect confronted the victim who was talking to a friend, and allegedly hurled anti-Asian sentiments towards her before smacking the victim. The victim reported the incident to the 5th Precinct.
