“Indian Matchmaking” is the next must-see Netflix dating show

Netflix has just greenlit an Indian reality dating show called “Indian Matchmaking” and it’s going to be the next must-see show. According to Variety, it will follow couples set up by an elite Indian matchmaker. The show will deal with arranged marriages between Indians in the United States and India.

“Matchmaker Sima Taparia guides clients in the U.S. and India in the arranged marriage process, offering an outside look at the custom in a modern era,” Netflix said.

The 8 episode one hour series will see millennials who are tired of swiping on dating apps try to find love with the guidance of Taparia. According to Variety, “Elite Indian matchmaker Seema Taparia is known for learning about her clients with painstaking precision to guide them towards their perfect match. From Houston to Chicago to Mumbai, the young singles will go on first dates, often with their family in tow, to discover whether these good-on-paper matches can turn into a love that lasts a lifetime.”

Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction series and comedy specials said “Indian Matchmaking” is full of heart. The show is produced by Eli Holzman, Smriti Mundhra, and Aaron Saidman for IPC Television.

The series will premiere on Netflix on July 16.
