A jeweler in India has set the Guinness World Record for most diamonds on a ring. Who even knew there was a record for that? But 25-year-old Harish Bansal broke the record with “The Marigold – The Ring of Prosperity” which has 12,638 tiny diamonds, reports News 18. It weighs a little over 5.8 ounces but according to Bansal “it’s wearable and comfortable.”
“My target was always more than 10,000 diamonds,” he said. “I trashed many designs and concepts over the years to finally zero in on this.”
“The Marigold – The Ring of Prosperity” beat out the old record of 7,801 diamonds which also was a ring made in India. “The Divine – Brahma Vajra’s Kamalan” was created by Kotti Srikanth from The Diamond Store in Hyderabad.
Bansal got the idea for the ring two years ago while studying jewelry design in India’s Gujarat Surat which is known as the country’s diamond hub. It was inspired by the Brahma Kamalam, a rare flower, and unveiled this month. It took Bansal 11 months to make the ring.
As of now the price of the ring is unknown because Bansal has no plans to sell it. There have been people who wanted to buy it but Bansal said “it’s priceless.”
“We have no plans of selling it right now,” he said. “It’s a matter of pride for us. It’s priceless.”
