One of the stars of “Crazy Rich Asians” might drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Actress Gemma Chan who played “Astrid Leong-Teo” in the original movie might walk away from the sequels, according to Micky. This is due to her schedule getting booked up and the coronavirus pandemic.
After the success of “Crazy Rich Asians,” Chan’s career took off. She booked a lead role in the upcoming Marvel’s movie “The Eternals” where she plays Sersei. However, the pandemic caused a delay in the release of the movie and also a delay in the filming of the sequels to “Crazy Rich Asians.”
In the follow-up to “Crazy Rich Asians,” “China Rich Girlfriend,” Astrid has a much meatier role in the story. Chan said the sequel and the third movie was set to shoot back to back but the pandemic put a hold to that.
So if there is scheduling conflict, Chan might leave the sequels, reports Micky.
If Chan leaves, who should play Astrid?
