Bridgewater, New Jersey resident Kelvin Lee is being hailed a hero for saving his friend’s life from her ex-boyfriend. According to My Central Jersey, Lee was staying at his friend’s apartment on October 24th when her ex-boyfriend Jordan Hamm, 23, broke into her apartment early in the morning.
Lees’s uncle, Jeff Roscher said the ex-boyfriend kicked in the door after Lee and his friend were asleep a little after 3 am. He said Hamm tried to hurt his ex-girlfriend but Lee tackled him to the ground and got him in a headlock. Lee calmed Hamm down and let him go after Hamm agreed to not harm the woman.
But Hamm attacked Lee with a knife causing some nasty injuries. Lee did however convince Hamm to leave the premises. Hamm fled in Lee’s car which was later found in New Brunswick, reports New Jersey 101.5.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the 22-year-old woman and Lee with injuries to his head, arm, and hand. Lee was taken to Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical center where he spent days in ICU.
According to a Gofundme set up for Kelvin Lee, he suffered from “severe injuries including facial lacerations, a knife blade stuck in his skull and all of the tendons and nerves severed in one of his arms. He spent many hours in surgery and days in ICU and will not be able to return to work or school in the near future.”
Nine hours after the incident, a little after 1 pm, Jordan Hamm died after he was struck by an NJ Transit train at the New Brunswick station. Police did not say whether the incident was an accident or suicide.
Hamm was scheduled to graduate with a degree in economics in the spring from Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences. The woman had recently moved out of his apartment the two had been sharing together.
