Cochise County, Arizona, authorities arrested 56-year-old Gregory Carlson for allegedly murdering his ex-wife Duong Nguyen, 30, and her companion Robert Atwell, reports Law and Crime. Nguyen and Atwell were reported missing on September 4th after they weren’t heard from for a couple of days. The couple from Pennsylvania traveled up to Arizona to “pick a child under a custody sharing arrangement,” according to Cochise County Sheriff’s Office. Nguyen and Carlson shared a child.
“The caller advised that a family member and companion traveled from Pennsylvania to Cochise County to pick up a child under a custody sharing arrangement and neither has been heard from since Thursday September 2, 2021,” authorities said.
Authorities soon located Carlson and the child. However, Carlson told police he had not heard from Nguyen and “had no additional information.”
An investigation against Gregory Carlson resulted in him being arrested shortly after.
“Search warrants were served on the property and as a result of evidence located, Carlson was arrested and booked into the Cochise County Jail on two counts of Murder in the second degree, three counts of obstructing justice, two counts of concealment of a dead body, and he remains in custody without bond,” authorities said.
Authorities have not released much information about the couple. It is unclear how they died and if the bodies were found or the nature of their relationship.
