K-pop boy band “BTS” is at the top of the music game. Billboard just released its end-of-the-year lists and in the “World Albums” category, BTS is king in 2019. Not only do they have the biggest world album, BTS placed in four other positions in the top 10, according to Forbes. This is quite the feat considering no other music act took up two positions in the top 15 “World Albums” list.
According to Billboard, BTS’s “Map of the Soul: PERSONA” was the world’s biggest album for 2019. Not too surprising considering “Map of the Soul: Persona” is the boys latest album that was pushed out this year. On the album, they had a monstrous hit with “Boy with Luv” featuring Halsey.
The seven-member boy band also took the third and fourth spot with “Love Yourself: Answer” and “Love Yourself: Tear,” respectively. The boys also took the sixth spot with “BTS WORLD” and finally the eighth spot with “Love Yourself: Her.”
Pretty impressive considering that the “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack came in at 15th place. What’s more impressive is the placement of other K-pop acts on the list.
“Super M: The 1st Mini Album” came in at 2nd place while other K-pop groups “NCT 127,” “EXO 5,” and “BLACKPINK” came in at 9th, 11th, and 14th place, respectively. That means K-pop groups took nine slots out of fifteen.
But BTS was just on another level. Their “BTS Love/Speak Yourself Tour” this year generated over $150 million in ticket sales. They sold stadiums out everywhere and broke records along the way. Plus, rumor has it that the boys will drop another album in February of 2020.
