On social media, the show was also hot. It had 39,000 social interactions across the major social media platforms making it the most socially active comedy show premiere for Comedy Central since 2016.
It’ll be interesting to see how much the show can build on the momentum in the following weeks. Not that it matters much considering that it has already been renewed for a season 2 before it premiered. Still, ratings are the be-all and end-all on television so, it’ll be nice to see the show become a bonafide hit.
The show stars Awkwafina as a younger version of herself still living at home with her dad (BD Wong) and grandmother (Lori Tan Chinn) in Queens, New York. The show follows Awkwafina as she’s trying to figure out her future with the help of her family and cousin (Bowen Yang).
