Asian woman shot in head with flare gun in Oakland, Chinatown

A man shot a 52-year-old Asian woman in the head with a flare gun in Oakland, California’s Chinatown. According to East Bay Times, the incident occurred in the 800 block of Franklin Street around 12:37 pm. The woman suffered from profuse bleeding from her head and had to be hospitalized. Fortunately, she’s in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene but was later arrested.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man about an hour after the incident in West Oakland at Market and Brockhurst streets. Police said a search of the suspect uncovered a flare gun and spent shell.

Authorities have not revealed a motive for the crime. They said the woman and the man did not know each other.
