Asian woman assaulted on Halloween in New York in apparent anti-Asian attack

The NYPD is asking the public for help in identifying a woman who they believe assaulted another woman on Halloween, reports CBS New York News. The incident occurred around 3:30 pm near Hudson and Dominick Street. Police said the suspect approached a 26-year-old Asian woman from behind and made an anti-Asian remark before slugging her in the back of the head.

According to the New York Post, the suspect allegedly told the woman “Get out of Chinatown. Go back to China.”

The victim was removing luggage from the back of a car when the incident occurred.

The suspect fled on foot after.

The NYPD hate crime task force is investigating the apparent anti-Asian assault. The victim refused medical attention at the scene.
