Asian elder sucker-punched in Lower Manhattan

A 68-year-old Asian woman was punched in the head in Lower Manhattan, New York on Tuesday, reports ABC 7 News. The incident occurred around 10 pm on 179 Mulberry Street in front of a flower shop. The victim was collecting something from the sidewalk when the unknown assailant walked up to her and walloped her causing her to crash to the ground. The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim suffered swelling and pain but refused medical attention. The NYPD is investigating the matter.

The suspect has been described as a Hispanic male according to ABC New York News Editor Sarah Y. Kim.
